The Funeral
By: Anajiel Villanueva
~~~~~~~~~~
There's a blackened throng of people
Marching down the street
With deathly flair,
And graceful care
They slowly move their feet
The rain is falling mournfully
It taps upon the ground
Feathers droop,
And shoulders stoop
Devoid of other sound
And the shining, ominous coffin
Is the center of this stage
Eyes are staring,
This sorrow amazing
For a simple hourly wage
They reach a silent graveyard
Everyone gathers round
The priest he speaks,
His voice, it reeks
Of subtle boredom there found
And I approach the coffin quietly
To feed my curiosity
I step closer still
With a terrified chill
I see the person therein...is me
"Rosemary"
By: Anajiel Villanueva
Decadent tale of terror
Silken butterflies of truth
Consuming sweet nectar's fire
Retrieve cobwebbed wardrobes
Scraps of life to draw forth.
Forgotten delicacies of flesh
Flit in untended cemeteries
Stone carvings of madness
Script an epitaph of secret rage
Echoes of ghosts scream.
Blasphemous prayer of damnation
Lustful demons of chaos children
Puppeteering, orchestrating trial
Seal the waxing fate of innocence
And she fades away, dark and fleeting.
Dew of the Sea.
"Bittersweet"
By: Anajiel Villanueva
So bittersweet
Sweet, sweet river flow
Carry me away
Drag me down
I won't fight you
Crystal waves
Deep, deep water
Satiate my thirst
Honeyed flow
So bittersweet
Sweet, sweet river
Flow fast, rage on
Carry me away
Drag me down
I can't fight you
Myriad reflections
So bittersweet
Addictive nectar
Submerge me
Baptise me
So bittersweet
Sweet, sweet river flow
Carry me away
Drag me down
"Sweet and Forgotten I"
By: Anajiel Villanueva
Oh, sweet revolution of the mind
The civil war wages on inside
The eyes and heart of whispers
Oh sweet dismayed fallen child
Oh the mirror, Oh honey sighs
Sweet and forgotten I!
Ill-begotten, forged star seeker
Writhing, dancing wood creature
The body and passion of songs
Oh sweet dismayed fallen faery
Oh the reflection, Oh soft cries
Sweet and forgotten I!
Oh, won't you see me?
Please remember me
When I am gone and my echoes
Range far and wide on the wind
Oh sweet dismayed fallen muse
Sweet and forgotten I!
Will you care? Will you miss me?
Will the world remember me?
Will the gods greet me?
Oh sweet dismayed fallen child
Forgotten, dark, glistening faery
Sweet and forgotten I!
"Hourglass"
By: Anajiel Villanueva
It's raining sand in my world today
Ominous premonition
Eternal weather prediction
Time's slipping away
Slipping, falling away
From me
I travel across a windy desert today
Burying myself in the dust
The particles are red as rust
Ominous, perilous warning
Black sunrise on a cloudy morning
Blinding me
I stumble along in tattered rags
Tangled hair and dirty face
Listless prayers and shattered grace
The sand sifts higher and higher
Steadily higher
Lifting me
Night turns into day, day into night
My cheek is pressed to the glass
Twilight is falling again fast.
Light is slipping away.
Slipping, falling away
From me...
"The Death of a God"
By: Anajiel Villanueva
I sit upon an ageless throne
Of silver and of gold
I hold the cup of Mysteries
And answers never told
A ghost leans at my shoulder
His words breathe of flame
His presence commands the very air
And tomorrows that never came
A spirit kneels at my slippered feet
She screams with every breath
Her tears form a rushing river
The keening proclaiming death
My arms are bound in iron chains
Inscribed with prayers of old
The metal burns into my flesh
With fire that glows forth cold
The ghost he moves and takes my crown
He donns my purple robes
He sips of Mystery's nectar
From the chalice he now holds
The new god moves to take his seat
His body melds with mine
I see the marble gateway
Outside of it lies Time
And there's left an ivory statue
On a throne for all to see
Now he bears the heavy chains
That once belonged to me...
"Mother, Why?"
By: Anajiel Villanueva
Mother, why hast thou forsaken me?
I am your unholy fallen angel
No sweet piety from the mother of god
Only remorse for your personal Lucifer.
Tattered wings and shattered things
Within my broken mind
Oh! Sweet madness takes its toll
Upon the one who has been forgotten
Cast down to earth alone.
Memory lane is closed to us.
The gates to the future locked.
For I am darkness chained to the light
Of an unforgiving and harsh deity
That never looked beyond the differences
To see the pain within my eyes.
Oh, disillusioned creatoress of my life
It is finished! It is over! It is done!
I hang upon your proverbial crucifix
Broken, stabbed, beaten, and worn.
Don't look back to the disgraced one.
Or be turned to a pillar of salt
Comprised of my wasted tears
My groundless, wide-eyed hope.
Mother, why hast thou forsaken me?
Cruel, thoughtless, blameless one!
Look upon your creation, your masterpiece!
Look upon that which is me!
That which you cannot see or understand!
Tattered wings and shattered things
Within my broken mind.
Oh! Sweet madness takes its toll.
Upon the one who has been forgotten.
Left here confused, cold, and alone.
