Very worthy album. But being that Proscriptor appears on this album and being a big Absu fan (Tara being in my top 10) I bought the album immediately. Dubbing themselves 'Mesopotamian Metal' is appropriate since Melechesh mixes in a lot of Meditteranean melodies with their songwriting (especially on 'Tablets of Fate.') The drumming isn't as insane as Absu's 'Tara' but it's very precise and controlled. And the occultish nature of the lyrics explains his prescence too. Andy LaRoque actually makes an appearance on this album too (also produced it.)
Although the musicians are really good at what they do, apart from some cool off-time things they pull off here and there, I wouldn't call it a technical album, rather, it's the feeling and atmosphere that stands out the most (for me at any rate.) Check it out. 8.5/10
