You're right next to me, but I can't reach you.
You keep yourself locked like a safe,
And I have to go through layers to get the combination.

You even flinch from my touch, sometimes reacting
Like an alarm that has been set off.
You will not allow the comforting arm.

Each time I try to understand, you fight,
Struggling always from any prying fingers
That may open your head like Pandora's Box.

I watch you so very carefully, preparing,
Hoping for the day you open up and let me see
All the secrets of your labyrinth mind.

I wonder how long you can keep it to yourself
And realize, distraught, that it could be forever.
You've been alone all your remembered life.

Until then, I can only hope to earn your trust;
You will take me through the novels in the attic
That is your self, letting me see who you truly are.

Yes, you are standing right by my side...
But my vision's not good enough to see you.

Ditto. Very awesome! I can't wait for you to post some more.
faster, faster, faster you run, but no matter how fast you run, you can never leave yourself behind... but there is something worthwhile in the struggle, something that may one day redefine the self

Alright, two new poems, one of them from an image that I put up in the gallery section... thing. I don't write a lot of poetry anymore, and absolutely despise my old stuff

Insane Today
Written for a friend.

My mother said I was insane today,
Tearing and breaking and
Screaming out the lies.

She saw me go insane today,
Shouting my sorrows over
Blaring, spiteful songs.

I wish I wasn't insane today,
The world judges me
For the state of my mind.

The reason I'm insane today
Is the wealth of filth
Upon this dirty earth.

The world drove me insane today,
Pushed me over to my edge
Til I toppled over, gone.

I'm glad I am insane today.
It covers me with a veil,
Makes it harder for me to see.

Just Like Me

Traversing my mind
Oh so world weary
Can't face it anymore.

The darkest depths
Scarcely populated,
Each figure, a shadow.

Familiar faces;
I seek these shades,
Leaving each with a frown.

No consolation.
But... who's form is this?
Come out, dear shadow,

So I can see your face.
I know you already,
Your dark stature a beacon,

Your hands red with blood.
Yes, your face I know well;
And your mind: so much like mine.

*sits on the floor with her legs crossed, arms folded and eyes wide with excitement. She waits, with mouth open and tongue ready and she waits.
'Let it be soon' she smiles beneath her bloodied teeth.
She waits eagerly for the next drop of blood to fall. "Tell me more,
give me more." *
