Getting back on track here. I really like rock anthems. Songs that make some statement with heavy power cords and some speed to them. I like music that starts out slow and builds and builds like a freight train moving. I also like dark moody atmospheric music.

/me points to Iced Earth. Great stuff, kind of like Iron Maiden or Blind Guardian but harder.

I've been listening to Tristania lately. It looks like I'll be listening to it even more when school starts since I got 4 of their albums that I haven't listened to....yet.

My favorite band of all time is VNV Nation.

As for genres I like, my first love is nearly all electronic music. Techno, EBM, trance, industrial, etc. I also enjoy old school goth, quite a few female fronted metal bands (I don't seem to take to the ones with primarily male vocals), synthpopy new wave goodness, and plenty of other things. I'll give any kind of music a shot.

And David Bowie. I don't know where exactly he fits into the whole genre world, but I love David Bowie. :P

I love heavy metal, but to be more specific, Metal that is fused with classical and opera such as Opeth and Nightwish. But I also love Industrial like Skinny Puppy and Rammstein. anything with a really big and/or heavy sound.

Eh all your Godsmacks, Disturbeds, Stainds, Nickelbacks and Trapts of the world. Your basic bar band rock and what gets played on most "modern rock" stations.

"Hate" is a stronger word than I would use. More like "Not hyped on". And its kind of for both of those reasons. One, I find that style of music kind of boring. And secondly, its a reflection of how watered down radio is now. Think about it: you go into any city in the country and turn on the rock station, odds are almost even you're going to end up hearing the same 20 songs over and over.

Yea I'd agree about that, that music is pretty crappy in my opinion.

I am a death metal and rock junkie. Slayer, Avenged Sevenfold, Blue Oyster Cult, Incubus and pre-sellout Metallica are my favorites. Some of my friends say Avenged Sevenfold suck cause they are nu-metal, what the hell is that? I don't know these new genres, I just like stuff I can bash my head to. Bzzzt! :wizard:

urm, i like every genre going i think... that includes rap and R&B. there is one thing though because i bet your all looking at me as if to say 'get out' the Rap and R&B have to be different from what is played mainstream. If anyone has heard of cLOUDDEAD seriously they are geniouse, and i'm pretty sure there will be an R&B song out there that i like. i'm not so keen on all the 'indie alternative rock/pop' scene things like fall out boy, All American rejects, ect. but I can listen to them. I love people with talent, ust listening to someone who can play an instrument well, or sing beautifully sends a shiver down my spine. The same goes for composing, mozart does the simplist of compositions and yet they are still beautifull.

I don't accept these divisions of music into genres, because that only complicates things. Most important to me is whether the frequency of the music or vocals has possitive effect on me or doesn't.
My favorites in no particular order would be: Poisonblack, Sentenced, Zvonko Bogdan, Ivana Jordan, Hans Zimmer, Vangelis, Aphrodite's Child, Carlos Santana, Wishbone Ash, Mariah Carey, Faithless, Enigma, Jelena Tomašević, Vivaldi, Apocalyptica, Blackmore's Night, Concrete Blonde, Tarja Turunen, EKV, Bach, Beethoven, Opeth, The Corrs, The Police...
Heaven is for cowards, hell is for heroes.
