Cnet news

In other words, just read it, because i think it's just too stupid for words.
(and i might break copyright if it's worth more than $1000.)

Basically, everything can and will become illegal if this will be passed.

Eat your heart out.
Unauthorized Copying is not only forbidden, but will prey upon your conscience, spoil your sleep, destroy your complexion, and eventually will wind up turning you into the kind of person who drinks methylated spirits out of a bottle hidden in a brown paper bag, and who lives under bridges, burps noxiously, and prays day and night for release from the unsupportable burden their life has become. We thought you'd appreciate the warning.
Originally from a Neil Gaiman cd, so i might suffer from all the things mentioned above.

Microsoft supports terrorism because their PC's have a right mouse button!

The article says that copyright infringment is done in order to support terrorism *boggles*

Also, any [qu0ting] on forums would also cross the line of distrobution of "intelectual property rights" especially if the quoting person removes <snips> any of the aformentioned content... meaning that even SS would be subject to criminal investigations on the grounds that Atnevon is a terrorist!

I am a terrorist because i once used a 255,255,255 colored pixel in an image i created (pure white). Obviously that color pixel was used in an other work of art that is copyrighted, and with that, all the pixels are copyrighted too.

10 years of jailtime coming up for me!

(and now for something completely different, it seems that the fish are laughing at us for getting on land in the first place)

Copyright the Alphabet & sue the world!

There is a relatedly silly story about Mc Donalds trying to sue a family resturant in ireland that has been around for like 9 generations or some other silly time for the use of the name and then adding MC to one of the meals.

IMHO, it's all crap and needs to be treated as such...

Luckily, much of the "leik z0mg its za terr0rist!" mindset is dying off...so maybe this wont go through with the flying colors they were hoping.

Though, I must say...if they keep tightening the reigns on us, then what happened in OK will likely be the least of their worries as the masses of America start revolting in the streets against the Dictatorship which is slowly being passed by Congress.

A DMCA dispute
But one of the more controversial sections may be the changes to the DMCA. Under current law, Section 1201 of the law generally prohibits distributing or trafficking in any software or hardware that can be used to bypass copy-protection devices. (That section already has been used against a Princeton computer science professor, Russian programmer Dmitry Sklyarov and a toner cartridge remanufacturer.)

Smith's measure would expand those civil and criminal restrictions. Instead of merely targeting distribution, the new language says nobody may "make, import, export, obtain control of, or possess" such anticircumvention tools if they may be redistributed to someone else.

so... anyone with a program that rips cds will be done, anyone with mp3s will be done, anyone with file sharing will be done, and windows vista will totally fail and be eradicated for it's file sharing system, anyone with anything that can be given to someone else will be done.

that basically fucks all networking. infact, the internet is a medium by which intellectual data is transferred between people. so the whole internet needs to be shut down.

oh to hell with it, just ban EVERYTHING.

because obviously absolutely everything in existance is used to fund terrorism.

Except oil bought from arabic countries.

Thats just giving billions to governments who DO support terrorism. And we all know that that is something completely different.

(Right now i'm waiting for the firesquad to place aim, because i'm crossing lines that are incredible enough too far from common sense)

I think I'll become Dutch.

Here they go fucking things up for everyone.

And if you live in the US, there's no point in expressing your distaste with this kind of thing. You will be labled an alarmist, an extremist, a conspiracy theorist, a terrorist (wtf!?), and unpatriotic. Why put an elderly man from the country (Texas) in charge of intellectual property!? It should be a 20-something male/female, with working knowledge of the Internet/WWW, and an understanding of the culture surrounding them.

I am a little more ashamed to live here everyday. If bird flu, terrorists, or Iranian nukes don't get us, stupidity will. In fact, I feel more threatened by stupidity.
