As a slightly broader topic related to this new bill, I'm curious as to what everyone thinks of rating systems in general, whether they be for movies, video games or music. Do you think that the ratings we see should be used purely as guidelines to purchasers and parents, or should the legal system get involved to stop the purchase of these items by minors all together?
Is there a difference between legal age restrictions on cigarettes or alcohol and the restrictions placed on media? Or would you say that both can cause harm in equal levels when the consumers is too young?

I just checked my email a minute ago and received this notice from my personal Twitter account:
And suddenly... I'm feeling afraid... very afraid.
On perhaps an equally important note, it's customary to follow those who follow you on twitter as a way of showing thanks... but... I'm somewhat hesitant about following Jesus Christ.
What does everyone here think I should do?

http://dl.nin.com/theslip/signupThere seems to be a larger trend happening lately with free releases such as this on the web, and it begs asking the question: Do you think that releasing their music absolutely free online will work in the favor of bands or against it?
Now, with established bands that release this type of album, there is a bit less risk than with those just starting out their music careers, but do you feel that those less established artists following the same path might find success in doing so? Or do you think that profit from concerts and tours won't be able to make up for what was lost in releasing their albums for free?

We're having some temporary problems with SWCast, but they should be fixed very shortly, so stay tuned and we'll be back before you know it

We do it by hand. Why? Spammers and bots sadly.
They've become very sophisticated these days.
So very sorry that sometimes it take us a little while to get you approved. We hope that with delays sometimes, that we don't make you feel unwelcome - you are very, very much welcomed here.

Next Friday Evening, we're extremely happy to be bringing you phoenix/NEBULIN as our feature band in our Live Chat and Interview Podcast Series here on Second Shifters Radio (
http://www.secondshifters.com ).
Starting at 8:30pm EST, you'll be hearing from both Phoenix and Nebulin on air to help highlight their songs and give you some extra background on the group, including a very unique bit of information on the song Voce de la Luna. It will be an interview worth hearing, and for even more fun...
At 9pm EST, members of the band will be stopping into our chat room with Sanctuary and I (Your Co-Administrators) to join us for a live question and answer session, where the band will answer to the questions you submit to us via email. To submit yours, send it in to atnevon@secondshifters.com and we'll try our best to include it in the discussion. To the person that gets the best question asked out of those submitted, we'll also be sending you a free copy of the band's latest cd: Miridian, which makes all the more reason for you to stop by to play with us.
phoenix/NEBULIN's detailed artist profile page can be found at:
http://www.secondshifters.com/artist/Phoenix---NEBULINAnd, for more details on our podcast interview series, including downloads of past broadcasts, you can head to:

Alex Reed, from the band ThouShaltNot, was our guest yesterday for our live chat and podcast interview session, and we were quite honored to have have him join us.
In both the live chat and in the on air interview, Alex demonstrated a great deal of insight and thought with his answers, and even gave us a very honest way of looking at the issue of downloading music illegally over the internet.
You'll learn in the chat session about the nearly insane amount of songs Alex has authored as a solo artist, and in the interview you'll get to hear how that raw talent he has for song writing and music really shines through in their songs.
TSN's latest album, Land Dispute, helps highlight how much they have grown as a band, and it's definitely worth picking up.
The Interview Podcast MP3 can be downloaded at:
http://www.secondshifters.com/interviews/T...t_Interview.mp3And, definitely don't miss the Chat Session for quite a good deal of extra info:
http://www.secondshifters.com/transcripts/..._04-26-2008.txtFor a full bio on the band (including Alex's direct email address), you can view our detailed Artist Profile for TSN at:
http://www.secondshifters.com/artist/ThouS...t&view=detailedAs always, let us know what you thought of the show and more importantly, if you liked what you heard as much as we enjoyed it, be sure to drop Alex a line to let him know as well.
